Some famous divers are also famous for their involvement in environmental issues. Bill Nye was an environmentalist and diver who first became interested after his father accidentally dropped him overboard. He is now an influential environmentalist, as well as the president and founder of Ocean Futures Society. It's a non-profit marine education group. Lloyd Bridges, a prominent diver, was also a key figure in the promotion of the sport via the TV series Sea Hunt (which aired between 1957 and 1961).

Tom Cruise is one famous celebrity. He is also certified as a scuba diver. He has done many underwater stunts throughout his career and even completed freediving courses for his Mission Impossible movies. Tom held his breath in one scene for six minutes.

Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson needed to be certified in scuba diving to be part the film "Fool's Gold". Although initially terrified of diving, she became a certified diver after completing her course. She loves scubadiving!

James Cameron

Many people are curious about why James Cameron is such a well-known diver. His work as a movie director has made him one of the most prominent people in the globe. Despite his busy schedule, however, he managed to attend Beneath the Sea New York. He was busy due to his participation in the James Cameron Awards. However, his busy schedule meant that he was being closely monitored by the media. Beneath the Sea management arranged for him to remain low-key in order to avoid being publicized.


Zale Perry

American scuba diver Zale Perry has spent her entire life diving and writing about the sport. Born in Milwaukee, Perry discovered diving at an early stage. Zale, a skin diver and scuba divers, was an early pioneer in scuba dive. Zale was also an aquatic specialist and a pioneer in underwater equipment testing. In 1955, she was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Later, she became a scuba instructor and began photographing under water.

Greg Louganis

Greg Louganis is an internationally renowned diver with a unique background both in sport and acting. As a child, he was a gymnast and then became a diver at the age of nine. He decided to pursue an acting career after he graduated from the University of California at Irvine. He started acting lessons, and he began appearing in commercials and plays. He also began acting in television series.

Alexandre Despatie

Alexandre Despatie, a Canadian diver, was born June 8, 1985. He was the first diver in history to win three World Championships simultaneously. His feat earned him a place amongst the best divers around the globe. He is also a broadcaster and anchors the French-language coverage on the Olympic Winter Games.

Mike Nelson

Mike Nelson is a well-known diver. He was also a star of the television show "Mike Nelson" which aired on NBC. He was a former Navy frogman and a free-lance diver. His diving expertise allowed him the ability to save everything, even a bicycle. Lloyd Bridges also voice-overnarrated the show.
