Skating opportunities
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign maintains an ice rink that is available to the public. There are several steps to follow if you want to host a group event at this rink. First, you need to make a reservation. Visit the Illini Union's RSO Office in Room 284 to make a reservation. When reserving ice time, remember that you'll need to supply a list of participants. In addition, you'll need to arrange for a supervisor to be at the rink to answer any questions you may have during the rental period.
Center Ice Cafe
The University of Illinois Ice Arena Center Ice Cafe can be accessed by the public. The cafe is situated adjacent to Customer Service Office. A wide range of accessories for skating and hockey are available at the Ice Arena Pro Shop.
Free skate trainers
The University of Illinois Ice Arena (UIUC) is a rink located in Champaign, Illinois. It is owned the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The ice arena remains open throughout the year to all members of the public at no charge. The public is welcome to use the rink for their figure skating and skateboarding skills.

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has issued an Illini-Alert following a gas leak at its ice arena. The building was evacuated at 406 E. Armory Ave. after Ameren Illinois crews discovered a leak. To prevent contamination, firefighters blocked the sideway leading to the arena. It is believed that the leak originated beneath the building.
