Ice skating opportunities are plentiful at the UIUC Ice Arena. UIUC's synchronized skating team is nationally ranked, and their performers have competed at the world and national levels. Tickets for the UIUC Spring Show cost $5 for general seating, and $7 for reserved seats.

University of Illinois Ice Arena

The University of Illinois Ice Arena is also known as Big Pond. It is located in Champaign, Illinois. It is owned the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There are many events held at the rink, including ice hockey.

Skating opportunities

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's ice arena is open to the general public. Here are some steps to take if you would like to host a group activity at the rink. First, make a reservation. To do this, visit the RSO Office, located in Room 284 of the Illini Union. A list of participants must be provided when you reserve ice. You will also need to arrange for a supervisor at the rink to answer your questions during the rental period.

Center Ice Cafe

The University of Illinois Ice Arena Center Ice Cafe can be accessed by the public. The cafe is situated adjacent to Customer Service Office. A wide range of accessories for skating and hockey are available at the Ice Arena Pro Shop.


Free skate trainers

Champaign's University of Illinois Ice Arena is a rink. It is owned by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The ice arena is free to use throughout the year. The public is welcome to use the rink for their figure skating and skateboarding skills.

Spring Show

The UIUC Ice Arena's Spring Show is fast approaching. This event will feature performances by local skaters along with a nationally-ranked, synchronized skating team. Many of these skaters are familiar with competing at both the national and international levels. Tickets to the event cost $5 for general seating or $7 for reserved seats.

Gas leak in UI Ice Arena

Following a leak at its ice rink, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has sent out an Illini-Alert. After Ameren Illinois crews and firefighters discovered a gas leak, the building at 406 E. Armory Ave. was evacuated. To stop further contamination, firefighters closed a sideway that leads to the arena. The leak appears to have originated below the building.
