Course Orientation

If you have been to a PADI IDC you will know that orientation is critical for your success. However, a PADI Staff Instructor's evaluation of teaching presentations is also crucial. If you've struggled to learn or have difficulty understanding a certain topic, this instructor is there to help you succeed. The IDC staff instructor will examine all aspects of your curriculum and offer constructive feedback and encouragement.

Throughout the PADI Instructor Development Course, you'll learn the ins and outs of the PADI System of Education and Practice. Course topics will cover the Dive Industry Overview, General Standards and Procedures, Prescriptive Teaching, Legal Responsibility, Risk Management, 5 Dive Theories, and practical applications. Depending on the focus of the IDC, the orientation section of the PADI Instructor Development Course can take as long as three days.

Open Water Teaching Presentations

Open Water Teaching Presentations are required for the PADI Instructor Design Course (IDC). These presentations are essential to the overall success and viability of the IDC program. PADI IDC candidates should be able to master two skills at once. These skills can be acquired from different courses. The IDC requires candidates to practice these presentations in order for them to be able understand them. Candidates should also be confident and well-versed in all aspects of their PADI Divemaster course.

PADI Instructor Development courses include nine (9) IDC Curriculum presentations. These presentations must be delivered by the PADI Course director or IDC staff and should relate to the PADI Open Water Divers, PADI Rescue Divers, or PADI Advanced Open Water Course. They should include a Knowledge Development Teaching presentation, and two skills presentations from Rescue Diver Course.
