The ship was deliberately sunk but has been partially restored and refloated. Since 1989, the ship has been sitting in 65 foot of water. Hurricane Georges ripped off a section of the wheelhouse during the hurricane and tore the middle. But, thanks to the reinforced steel, the wreck is still standing and is a popular site for intermediate and beginner divers.
